Exploring Art and Nature with Dyeing Techniques
with Steep Rock Association, Jon Olivieri, and Alyssa Robb

ASAP’s first weekend workshop of the year will take place at the Macricostas Preserve in New Preston. With Alyssa, participants will learn several different dyeing techniques using natural dye made from plants, including tie dyeing, clamp dyeing, dip dyeing, and more. Each student will bring home hand-dyed fabric and t-shirts. With Jon, students will explore nature and find inspiration to create their own drawings and paintings from the natural surroundings of the Steep Rock preserve.

Field Trip to the Livingston Ripley Waterfowl Conservancy & Arethusa Farm’s creamery
Transportation provided to and from Washington Montessori School.
Livingston Ripley Waterfowl Conservancy is the largest facility of its kind in the Northeast and has over 80 species of birds in an array of aviaries and open fields. Participants will get an up close-look at these beautiful birds on a guided tour though the Conservancy’s collection of rare and unusual waterfowl (ducks, geese and swans) from around the world. We will finish our day with a trip to Arethusa’s Ice Cream Shop.

Making Holiday Cards & Cooking
with Alyssa Robb and The Silo
In this festive holiday workshop, participants will create their own unique holiday cards with Alyssa Robb and make some delicious holiday treats with Liba Furhman of The Silo Cooking School. With Alyssa, students will carve large rubber stamps to make their own beautifully handmade holiday cards, learn different methods of applying ink to stamps to create different effects, and bring home beautifully packaged handmade cards. During the cooking portion of the workshop, junior chefs will create two delicious recipes and will leave with a smile, as well as samples of their fare and the recipes.

Hip Hop & Magic Arts
with Austin Dailey and Tom O’Brien
Participants will spend this afternoon with nonstop excitement! Austin Dailey brings his love of dance and the latest Hip Hop dance moves to participants to have them moving and grooving by the end of the day. Participants will also explore the hidden world of magic with Tom O’Brien, learning exciting magic tricks to wow their friends and family and watching an interactive magic show.

Sing Your Art Out & Sculpting
with Sari Max and Kezia Hearn
During this workshop students will sing fun songs with Sari Max and try their hand at creating their own sculptured works of art with Kezia Hearn. In Sing Your Art Out, students will learn how to improvise new music and engage in songs and musical stories from around the world. During Sculpting, participants will explore different ways to create sculpture and use their imagination to plan and build their own unique two and three-dimensional sculptures.

Circus Arts & Hand Drumming
with Matica Circus and John Marshall
Matica Circus brings the fun of the circus in their exciting workshop. Participants will explore different circus acts such as juggling, the chinese yoyo, spinning plates, and much more! John Marshall teaches the exciting counterpart of this afternoon with his ever-popular Hand Drumming workshop. Participants will explore different rhythms and styles of drumming while playing instruments from around the world!

Fish Stocking at Cobble Brook Vista with The Weantinoge Heritage Land Trust
Participants will meet at Cobble Brook Vista for this Weekend Workshop (Cobble Road, Kent).
$35 per family
ASAP is partnering with Weantinoge Heritage Land Trust for the last Weekend Workshop of the year and it’s for the whole family! Bring the family to spend a fun spring afternoon at the Cobble Brook Vista in to learn about our local ﬁsheries and have a chance to stock the stream with fish. Rain or shine. Wear your galoshes!
ASAP provides snack and supervision.
Registration is on a first come, first served basis. Refunds are not available.
